Koji Uehara, Boston Red Sox RHP, will be key to postseason run; but when will he pitch in back to back games?

BOSTON Koji Uehara has pitched five scoreless innings since returning from the disabled list earlier this month.

It s no coincidence the Red Sox have recorded the major league s lowest bullpen ERA 1.14 during September.

In his five one inning relief outings, Uehara has faced the minimum three hitters four times. Farrell pointed out that Uehara makes the entire bullpen better.

At the time of the pec pectoral injury Clay Buchholz Jersey, felt like this has a chance to be a season ending one for him Matt Barnes Jersey, Red Sox manager John Farrell said. But once he started to get out to his normal long toss distance, that s maybe when the light became a little bit brighter in when he d return. But the fact that he missed two months, you need to go out on rehab, throws some BP and right back in the mix, it s pretty amazing what s he s doing right now given the amount of time missed and very limited live pitching before being activated.

Uehara who spent from July 20 Sept. 5 on the DL with a right pectoral strain will be key to the Red Sox making a run during the postseason.

Well William Cuevas Jersey, that is if Uehara can pitch on back to back days. It s something he has yet to do since returning from the DL.

Farrell might be ready to use him on back to back days now if the pitch count is low enough on the first day.

The number of pitchers the night before might be kind of indicative of whether or not he ll be available, Farrell said. Still, Koji s responding great physically with the day off or two days off in between. I don t want to over push that at least at this point. But I think he s getting closer to where we would go back to back days with him. But he s been such a quality addition as he s come back off the disabled list. It s allowed some of the other relievers in the bullpen to filter towards earlier innings if needed. But in time, there may be a back to back opportunity.
