Hi
this is a really useful site. It gives you a list of all the possible meteor sightings through out the year.
http://www.imo.net/calendar/2009
the things to look out for this month are:-
Taurids - first week of November - short lived small shower
Leonids - 10-21 November - a regular, large shower.
If it ever stops raining, it might be a good idea to look out for them.

the moon is too bright really at the moment.
We need it to set sooner or wait until the new moon to get lovely dark skies in which to see meteors.

I've just sat outside for 20 minutes and seen 4 pretty good shooting stars.
its a lovely clear night, there is no moon. Orion is just appearing over the horizon, its well worth wrapping up warm and having a look.
