Possibly a little early for a reminder but what the heck.
I've been talking to a friends mum this week. She was a polish refugee, sent right across the world, through the Middle East and into Africa of all places. She told me how they were treated by the Russians and of transportation in cattle trucks, having to eat dandelion leaves and hay when there was nothing else, sleeping on straw feeling like luxury and so on.....Amazing woman!
It left me acutely aware that so much knowlege will die out with her generation and with the firm conviction that these things should never be forgotten.
When you are tucking into your sunday roast on that day, take a moment to remember all those who died and suffered so that you could enjoy the luxuries and freedoms you have today. Teach your children too, because they should know. _________________ It is better to light a candle than to rail against the darkness
