Im planning on making an order to acorn soon for some tree guards for this years plantings.

IF anyone else would like something let me know since the bigger the order then the cheaper.

I am also thinking of ordering treespats (mulching mats for trees) and was wondering if anyone has used them before?
IN previous years we have just planted trees with tree shelters (for shelter and to keep deer off) and just left them to it. Most have survived and most are doing well. I know you are supposed to put down weed killer for the first 3 years but I hate weedkiller and Im too lazy to weed them. The trees seem to do ok but thought I should plant some with treespats to see what difference it makes.

tree mats are good, im the same not keen on the chemicals, a hand sickle would probably be your best bet though,

unfortunately hand sickling or strimming them would just encourage the weeds to grow and further limit the trees. the only solution is killing the weeds by smoothering or weedkiller

im not convinced that keeping down the weeds makes that much difference but curious to try hence the mats

it depends on which type of trees your planting, but the mats sound a good idea

hi james, pleased to see you're another keen tree planter. dont know anything about tree mats but i've been told hay makes a very good mulch, keeps weeds down etc if you put it round the base of trees, 100% natural, biodegradeable etc. if you want some i have plenty of mouldy bales you are welcome to (weather caught me out this year when baling

I have tubex shelters I would sell at cost - no VAT, delivered if you want - guy changed his mind about how much trees to plant
