Thanks - our hens are laying quite well now and I've been giving eggs away to friends. Nice to freeze some for later in the year.

Test for red mite, from a suggestion made by Sassinak.

Take a white tissue and run it along the underside of the perches. If there is blood on it, you have red mite present.
