I have two hives of small colonies building up and it is amazing seeing the differences between them already. One hive is sweetness and loveliness (as much as bees can be), are totally non agressive and all they want to do is draw the comb, expand and make honey.
The other hive however is more challenging. They are far more aggressive and are not drawing comb to the point where they are almost out of room with brood, pollen and honey in the few combs they have drawn. I have interspersed the drawn combs with the non drawn in an effort to encourage them and I'll let you know what happens!
Anyone got any tips to make them feel happier to expand?
Also does anyone breed queens so that I can requeen in the autumn if needs be? |
