Not sure if this belongs here but it's definitely a make do and mend.
Someone showed me recently how to make scratched and discoloured UPVC window frames look like new again. The windows had deep scratches from their big dogs toenails where they had been jumping up to look through the windows.
All you do is put a squeeze of toothpaste onto a cloth and work away at the frame as if it were cutting paste. Cheap toothpaste will do, it's all as good as it contains very gentle abrasives. I can't stress enough what a brilliant job it does. It restores the colour, the shine and removes all trace of scratches.
We don't have plastic windows, but I was so impressed I felt I had to pass it on. It could save a fortune in replacement windows for someone.

Very handy indeed. I wonder is Bicarb would work too - also a gentle abrasive?

Toothpaste - Removes scuffs from leather shoes
Cleans piano keys (Both plastic and ivory)
Removes ink and lipstick from fabric
Cleans the sticky residue on the base of the iron
Prevents the bathroom mirror from fogging
Shines chrome
Removes crayon marks
Removes watermarks from furniture
Gets sticky tar off
Clears up pimples

All the above refer to traditional white, non-gel toothpaste.

Father-in-law and A Fine Malt always use toothpaste to wash their hands when they've been doing any work with greasy stuff (car ect) amazing minty fresh remover of gunk. Makes you wonder if you really should be putting it in your mouth...the toothpaste not the gunk, before anyone gets silly.

Kim and Aggie are good aren't they. On the rare occasions that I get an urge to really clean something, old toothbrushes used round the edges of stuff is quite fulfilling
