Has anyone come across the "Crash Course", by Chris Martenson? I heard about it on Monday at a Transition conference workshop, and it sounds like essential viewing.

This is how it's described:
"The Crash Course is the world's most concise video seminar on how our economy, energy systems, and environment interact, and how they will impact the future"

The people who've seen it recommend that you watch it in short bursts - in total it's about 3 hours of viewing, and 45 minutes seemed to be the optimum for absorbing the info. They also suggest you then discuss it with other people who've hopefully been watching it with you ... perhaps we could do that here if anyone else wants to understand what's going on with the economic situation, and what we should expect ... and most importantly, what we should do about it!!

It's available here:  www.chrismartenson.com  and is aimed mainly at an American audience (since Chris is American) but we had a video web conference with him on Monday for an hour or so, where he showed some data from the UK and compared it with the US data, and the patterns were identical, even if the numbers were a little different.

There's a 'crash course' questionnaire, which really struck home how incredibly un-resilient we are in our modern 'convenient' world, and made me start thinking even more about what I personally need to do to become a little more capable of functioning if the communications network / transport network etc fail for any reason.

Grrr. I really think I need to get some speakers for this PC... Why can't they do these things in books? I always prefer reading to viewing anyway!

Sorry - rant over.

Do you have a set of headphones that you can connect? Does your pc have a soundcard?

No to the first - no idea to the second. I'd hate having to sit with my ears plugged in, anyway.

Sorry I'm being so negative, I'm working on yet another application, and that always makes me grumpy...
