A couple of years ago my sister bought me a book called Scenes from a small holding by Chas Griffin.  Its about a family who sold up their place in Nottingham and bought a farm in Wales and tried to make a go of it.

It was brilliant.

This christmas she bought me the next one More scenes from a small holding.  Its just as good.  Its funny, informative and being a bit of a small holder myself I spend a lot of time nodding while reading it.  Been there, done that.

If you get a chance, they are well worth a read.

I shall go and find a copy now as that appeals to me.  I've also been trying to get hold of the novels by Brian Viner:  Tales from the country & the Pheasants revolt, they sound in a similar vein!

I have read the first one too Pete and have the second here to read when I get a chance. I read the first going down to Bradford and back to Aberdeen one day on the train and not only did I find myself nodding at his antics but also laughing out loud...got a few weird looks that day
