|
|
Hello,
can anyone suggest a good internet provider please. I have used aol for years and although I have not had any huge issues with them in the past they have now caused me a problem.
Aol users cannot currently access Nationwide BSoc website and although aol have said it is their fault and they are going to fix it, it seems to be taking a lot longer than the 24 hours they first promised!
I am thinking of changing providers and wondered who most people in the NE would choose as I will be stuck with a one year contract I suppose and don't want to make the wrong choice.
I am on dial up as we can't get broadband here yet.
Thanks for any help, Lisa. |

Untill then you could use an Emergency Internet Porvider.
The connection is charged at a local rate so you wouldn't want to be on it for hours, but it should be enough to access what sites you can't get into.
See this thread: Emergency Internet Connection
Hope it helps.
Virgin used to be very good with Dial-up!
Don't know what they are like now!

I think Bob's suggestion is best Lisa.
If you've been using AOL without problems overall, and you're happy with them overall, it might not be prudent to change to another carrier and start using new equipment (as far as I know, they all send out their own hardware) just for one site which you will probably be able to get to eventually anyway.

Welly | Aol will now not let me into any secure sites or at least wont let me log on even if the home page opens. This is after following their advice for fixing the problem I had with one site.
Initially I managed to get access by using IE but even that wont work now. I tried restoring to before I tried aols fixes but then I couldn't get online at all so had to reverse it!!! Not only have I lost access to these sites but my computer set up has reverted to something I recognise from about three years ago, that pesky paperclip etc.
Emergency Internet connection it is then. Aol has been OK in the past as far as I am concerned but this is just too inconvenient, I haven't tried paypal (ebay) for a while but I bet that dosen't work either so it definately has to go
Thanks for the help and the numbers.
