Right, massive update time!
Friday late morning saw absolutely everything disconnected and the engine sitting supported only by sitting on its mounts:
Actually, I'm doing this while photobucket's still uploading - that's the pic of the engine looms removed...
Anyways, once Peter brought the forklift round, we got the venerable 2 litre eight valve rigged up and pulled out, took all of oh, five minutes? Took longer to find somewhere safe to put it! :lmao:
Once that was out, it was time to be starting plumbing in the new lump. Removing the servo completely would have been easier, but would probably have taken longer. Getting the loom grommets seated properly again is a bugger of a job, especially as I found that it was a job better suited to my left hand. I'm not ambidextrous. :slapped:
No matter. Later on in the afternoon Dan turned up, and between us we tried to ascertain just why the 'rad pedal box wasn't fitting. Spent some time measuring it and the old Golf one up and it soon became obvious that we'd have to break out the MIG and the grinder. Which were in Peter's workshop, and he wasn't in. D'oh! Started pulling the pedal box out of the 'rad VR6 over the way, then gave up when it became obvious that either the dash or the column was going to have to come out before it would. Bugger, again.
Pulled all the rod-change gubbins out the Golf and dumped them in a dark corner somewhere...
...disheartened, I was seriously thinking about putting them back in. Well, I could pull apart the gearbox, swap the diff rivets for bolts and it'd all be fine, yeah? Then Dan suggested using the SEAT setup. So, use the cable change box, but just forgo hydraulic actuation of the clutch. He had all the stuff at home, minus an RHD 1300 clutch cable. Sure, it wouldn't feel as good, but I never really knew any different before, did I? FuŠk it, thinks I, why not?
Cue upsurge in enthusiasm couple with Peter returning and as such the forklift becoming available again. Gratuitous ABF shots follow:
^^^That, my friends, is a face that says "I'm so glad we didn't have to lift this in by hand"!
ABF inside:
GTD radiator mocked up - all the coolant hoses fit perfectly, so I'm chuffed.
And can you tell what's happening below?

Got a few more wee things done yesterday, so here goes.
Tried something out on the inlet manifold. Not sure if I like it or not yet:
Got everything wired back up and the fusebox back in:
And fitted the sender:
For these:
Still a few things to do, mind you... _________________
