For those of us who're far away, and oft do think of those who stay.
A memory's but a jot away and is not smudged by years away.
For those who stay it is the same a memory's ne're far away.
The time away does not decay the thought of those who are away.

I lived in Canada for almost 10 years and can identify with the feelings expressed in your poem. I enjoyed it.

It does bring much back even to the property which we are moving to which is to be called Waterside after my Grandparents house in Glass outside huntly

My daughter's in-laws have moved from Aberdeen to Australia but their son won't leave Aberdeen - much to my relief as it means that my daughter and grandchildren will not be going either.
Do you think you will stay out there permanently Scotsman?

In short yes. I am 63 and have been here since 1969 i have a large family here in Australia now somewhat spread out as to be expected. However i still have many very fond memories of times past and the NE is often in my mind as i get older. My mother is still alive and in Edzell my brother not very far away in Glenn Esk and i have been back many times it really is gods country i believe.
