Hi does anyone know a cheap place to get lawn mower serviced - our 4 year old Mountfield SP470 has finally decided that this year a change of oil, fresh petrol, cleaned spark plug etc is not enough to get it going properly and have reluctantly decided it needs the attention of a proper mechanic however I suspect this is likely to cost more than the price of a new mower which is hardly the green way to go...

dos it run at all, if so dscribe the problems etc, what size of mower is it, and was it running ok when it was put awayb at th end of the year

is it a briggs engine, if so it is more than likely the diaphram in the carb or a the air cleaner gasket broken,

also check the spark plug gap, i know its new , but often needs adjusting, compare it with your old one if you still have it, id take a guess that it should be about .75 mm gap, but you will have to check n that,

There used to be a chap at Crimond who bought, sold and repaired garden machinary. He always used to advertise in Wednesday's Scot Ads. I think they called him Rollo or similar

A friend's son does that kind of thing - he's a student, has been doing it for years; really talented - but he's about 40 or 50 miles from you, so that wouldn't turn out terribly sensible!
