Have you tried hiring one?

I have no idea of the cost to hire

Most kilts can be adjusted quite a bit, so one that was a 32" can probably be adjusted to 40" or so easily enough... would take a lot of "outgrowing" I think before you'd need a replacement

Definitely worth having your own though over hiring. I used to hire a kilt for the "odd" occasion, then we had a run of weddings one year and I worked out that there would be little difference in having my own instead of hiring. Ever since then it's paid for itself, even if it's just the less hassle in getting it from and taking it back to the shop.

ask at your local kilters for a second hand one, they usually are ex hirer and at a fraction of the price.  Ebay do them as well.

Kilts are things people tend to hang on to for when they grow back into it or for their sons...ditto for women

When Shelly and Paul got married they hired one down in the Midlands. You may remember, they wed in Kenilworth and because there is so little demand for kilt hire in England, it cost a pittance.
It might be worth you phoning around in Hereford or going online to see if you can get one down there. Paul couldn't get the exact tartan he wanted, but he found one in the right colours so he was happy.

At a mates wedding recently one of the guys was up from London and had hired it in London for a few days... originally I'd thought the cost was quite high until I realised that spread over the best part of a week, it worked out not bad at all, just over £110 IIRC

I think my daughter paid about twenty pounds for it for the weekend. Things would perhaps cost more in London than further north.

WE do have  spare very long Gordons kilt but I think it might be for more than 6' tall. I'll check when I get home tonight and see if we could lend it to you... we're hoping to sell it on and get some money back in for it at some point.. alhtough it also fits me quite nicely and looks like a long skirt
