OK well I made this in a class but its the only way mutton hands here is likely to make it into the craft section!!
still needs varnishing tho, sometimes they are oiled but our dogs/lifestyle is more of a varnish than an oiled surface type........

Looks great angela well done.. you should take orders
The Poofie in our house always has a resident springer spaniel on it, a wee foot stool would be just the ticket.. |

apparently wee ones like to post things through the hole in the top! I think if I took orders the client might get bored waiting )) _________________ Happiness is a Haflinger! |

That's beautifully neat, well done.
Why is it called a creepie stool? _________________ It is better to light a candle than to rail against the darkness

In many a Scttish croft or bothy in days gone by you would have found a "creepie" or small wooden stool. Light and easily portable it would have been moved around to provide a seat when doing a variety of tasks, anything from milking the cow to making a Orkney kishie (straw basket). They would have been made from whatever wood was available at the time, often driftwood.
I heard that they were called creepie stools as, as the fire died down you crept on your stool closer and closer to the fire ) The hole in the middle is to pick it up easily.

BTW i really enjoyed the classes, not only for Clydesdalecloppers company (lots of chat and slow progress on our projects ) but also cos its hand tool based so I can now use planes, bit and braces and gents saws etc!Not use them stylishly but still exciting to lose the fear of them! So the dado on the top corner is done with a special plane etc. Very theraputic activity! _________________ Happiness is a Haflinger! |

Gordon has a whole box of those planes, all different ones. They were given to him years ago by an old gent who wanted to see them used. Some people collect them too. _________________ It is better to light a candle than to rail against the darkness
