Hello all, I was directed your way as I was looking to swap some eggs but it looks like theres far more to get involved in. I love swaping so hopefully next year there will plenty of eggs, chooks and veg spare. (But if anyone wants rabbit I'm your man!) I'm not exactly swimming in eggs now as half of them are being hidden by the sneaky chooks!
Very much into grow-your-own, chickens, forageing, rabbiting, and homebrew, and enjoy talking about it all! I don't consider myself an expert by any means so I'll have lots of questions.
Just moved here and finally have some space to grow a decent amount, only problem being 90% of the 'garden' is granite chips. One bed nearly done. _________________ Who cares about a little chicken poo on the carpet? |

Thanks all I'm sure I'll become a regular. Is there much swapping goes on? What kind of setup do people have is it everything from town garden to small holding?
We live in an old farmhouse in the middle of farmland so the chickens can range as far as they like but the garden is not huge. But plenty enough space for a large amount of veg and a few trees and poultry, more than we've had before. Wyandottes and Indian Runners to add to the collection next year. Would love pigs but wouldn't be able to give them the space I would want to. _________________ Who cares about a little chicken poo on the carpet? |

to neeps - lovely to have you around and great to see you posting already.
I'm pretty sure the folks who use neeps range from window sill to farm...and everything in between. Much swapping is done, both between individuals (on board or pm) and in groups, either at the food co-op (about to re-start) or at craft meet ups. Keep an eye on the board for more details.
Wish i had your roaming space for chooks...our garden's not big enough at the min, and we're near a speedy road, so they have to be cooped. _________________ Better late than never! |

It has its downfalls we cant find the wiley mongrels eggs and 6 days ago one went missing (brooding a hidden nest) only to reappear momentarily yesterday, and now my wise old mongrel hen has done the same. Don't fancy their chances of bringing home chicks in the cold we had this morning!
I'm quite crafty too, anything going on near me, I dont like the cost of long journeys?
PS thanks to Sorbus for telling me about this site, now post more you fool! _________________ Who cares about a little chicken poo on the carpet? |

Mmmm - gatherings near you? There are often events listed on our 'what's on' section which might help you meet other crafty/swapsy neeps in your aread....or...You could make one very very close by offering your place as a venue.
I know, i'm incredibly forward, but if you, or someone close to you (there are many a neep in your area) want to gather...all it usually needs is someone to say they'll host a meet. Perhaps you could put something up on the relevant section (crafty stuff, or meet up details) and see what happens. It could be that someone's been mulling over having a meet up...and all they need is a little nudge? I'll suppot in any way i can.
Please don't go in to hiding...you can always ignore my mad hatterness...others do. _________________ Better late than never! |
