Agree! We might sell Ash through the breed soc if someone already has Shetlands and we are happy with the set up.
But Rowan I think will stay with us, and hopefully at some point will put her in calf, maybe then even milk her for the house supply ) _________________ Happiness is a Haflinger! |

OK latest update, Rowan has now come down with mastitis :-((( Not responding as well to antibiotics as we would like so we will have to see what we do with her long term.
Ash we are definitely going to sell, as she is young (18mths) and healthy and ready to put in calf, and we need to concentrate on Rowan. If anyone is interested in her, get in contact via PM. _________________ Happiness is a Haflinger! |

The cow and heifer have both been sold and have gone off to their lovely and very experienced (40 years of Shetlands) home tonight.....pleased for them tho a bit teary! They are off to Thurso to gaze over the sea to their birthplace of Shetland (well if they can see round Orkney that is!) _________________ Happiness is a Haflinger! |

Great news that you got them both such a loving home with new owners with years of experience of the breed
Know what you mean tho about being teary.. leaves you feeling like you have sold one of your own children.. |

I have to thank Paddy from the breeders association for finding the home, she did all the legwork and even visited the farm; she was a complete star!
Nicest of all he doesnt breed from the heifers until they are fully 2, so Ash can still be a teenager for a bit! He breeds some pures and crosses others, but he doesnt sell any out, so no headaches with bloodline analysis etc. And he was cool with Rowans 3 good quarters.
If you have to sell a member of the family, its about as good as you could find, huge relief.... _________________ Happiness is a Haflinger! |
