|
I have decided to concentrate on sheep so sadly my 2 Shetland cows are for sale. Both are registered with the herd book, are the rare red and white colour and ready to be put in calf.
Rowan (registered name Geldron Rowan) UK 524351 10032
Red/white registered Shetland cow (Shetland herd book no 03-3451)
DoB 04 04 2003
Sire Geldron Leonardo Dam Geldron Lynette
She has had 4 calves to my knowledge, majority are red/white including Ash her daughter below
She can be hand or machine milked (Ive only tried the hand milking and she was very good)
Lovely temperament and ready to be put in calf
Ash (registered name Corrachree Mountain Ash) UK 524397 700025
Red/white registered Shetland bulling heifer (Shetland herd book no 09-5780)
DoB 25 03 2008
Sire Schiehallion Gallileo Dam Geldron Rowan (above)
Very good temperament, very well grown, ready to be put in calf
They will only be sold together to a very good home, ideally within reach of Aberdeenshire so I can accompany them to their new home.
Price £600 for both (would be more but good home most important)
PM me if you are interested in the girls. _________________ Happiness is a Haflinger! |

Seriously tempted as we've been after Shetland cows for a long time, but the timing couldn't be worse for us. |

Hiya
If this was a year from now I'd have them; I really want a milk coo (and some weaners possibly Stoneheads). Unfortunately we're not living on the farm (yet!) and whilst I'm OK with getting up to milk in my PJ's at 6am if she's a few yards away I'm not prepared to drive 4 miles and back again before the kids get up. We've inherited a milking bail/pump setup (churns cheese press etc) but for 4 pints per day doing it by hand is much easier than cleaning a heap of equipment.
We're really set up for finishing heefers not breeding but recently one of them (a 18m CHX) gave us a surprise bull calf (ceasered but fortunately both OK); and it feels right to have a calf on the place again.
OH thinks I'm feel but will indulge me.
Here's hoping that another oportunity will come up in a year.
Sorry

Is it too late to get them into the rare breeds sale at Thainstone as late entries? They wouldn't be in the programme but it might solve your rehoming issue. You can put a reserve on them as far as price goes. _________________ It is better to light a candle than to rail against the darkness
