And 30th is the Last of the Summer Dunes picnic at Balmedie - unless you go to James B's in the morning then to the picnic after lunch ...!
My sister dug local clay to make pots with once, she had to sieve out every tiny stone by using lots of water - a time-consuming business. But that was for pots fired at very high temp in a kiln, not used as part of an outdoor oven. It was so that the stones didn't explode and wreck the pots. I can find out how she did it if you like. _________________ Local food - better by far! |

1st permaculture group meet is the Sunday 30th Aug (2pm). We are between Ellon and Mintlaw (pm for details). The format is
1) Tour of the house to demonstrate its energy saving features
2) Discussion on outdoor brick/clay ovens. I have some clay on site and I want to build one with bricks since we have the old bricks from the cottage fireplace. I'll photocopy the article in the recent permaculture mag on brick ovens.
3) Afternoon tea. Selection of food using locally sourced ingredients
4) more discussion!
Let me know if you intend coming.
thanks

Sorry James that I can't come. I'll be up to my eyes in sand dunes at the picnic, but hope you have a great afternoon and that everyone learns a lot. I shall think sadly of you all tucking into your afternoon tea! _________________ Local food - better by far! |
