It's ICY out there. Please be careful. Our road is like a skating rink and there hasn't been a gritter out.

It's a beautiful sunny day though and the colours look great now that the snow has cleared away.

Very icy up here too - my OH left the drive and slid into the kerb on the other side of the road completely mangling the tyre/wheel well thingy-ma-jig of his work van.

I had to go to Inverurie, and our track was literally sheet ice thank goodness for the Landrover. Saw 3 accidents on the way including one happening as we watched when the person coming the other way decided to 'nip' in front of us and turn right into their drive, sadly out the corner of my eye I saw their car skid and slowly slide into their wall.........:-( they were fine but car a bit squashed.

On the way back had to engage diff lock on Landy to make it up the ice floe, sorry track.

No sign of any grit on any of the roads!

A gritter when down our road this morning

It wasn't actually gritting though

It must have been a short cut to somewhere.

The gritters did go past... just like buses, you wait for ages for one and then three come along all at once! It's all freezing up again now though and there has hardly been any traffic along our road for a change.

What a fantastic sunset we were treated to though - icy roads are a small price to pay for such beauty.

It was a great sunset, WG.

I was working in Braemar today and the drive up the valley was stunning. The clear blue sky against the glinting peaks of Lochnagar and beyond were beautiful. Didn't mind driving real slow.

Been baltic in the blootoon today but really sunny, the lake still has a good 3-4 inches of ice all over - 11 days now will be a while befor that thaws enough to get a boat out for fishing.

been all over the place today main roads not to bad but ge, worst thing get of the bigger A roads they were bad and ungritted was when the sun was reflecting up in my eyes, the road between balmeddie and newmachar was lethal had it been a weekday i bet it would have been gritted.

The sunset was amazing tonight was headed from bridge of don towards cults and as you went down the hill coming towards tesco the sky was all shades of red and pink lighting the houses up really nice wish i had had the camera with me.

On the gritter thing the guy who lives at the gate house to the fishery and another guy who lives around the corner from us both drive ploughs/gritters they say that they quite oftern go out and drive there route to see how bad it is and they only grit evenings when the onboard computor says its cold enough sometimes if its dry the council will not send out the gritters if it has been dry since the last gritting as the road is still salty.
The other thing they have both said is that they each have there own routes and if they drive along someone elses route to get to there own they can not grit it as its not theres especially if its another depots or Bear scotlands patch. The council have differant gradings for each road, some will get done every time it gets cold, other only get done if its been really cold (once main roads are done) and the rest get done depending on how busy they are if theres time befor they have to regrit the main roads.

When we moved in to peterhead i was shocked about the lack of gritting, we have 4 differant buses come down our road and we are only gritted if its really bad. A few days earlier in the week the bigger buses where only going one way on the as the hill out side was to slippy to get them up. there was alot of skidding about and a couple of cars hit others or the walls nothing major but most could of been avoided if the road had been gritted.

wow that was alot
