Everybody would be well advised to carry a blanket, shovel, wellies, and such in their car through the winter months. I take a flask of coffee too if I'm going anywhere in the winter, you never know if you might get stuck out in the cold for any other reason too. It's very handy to have a mini compressor that runs off the fag lighter too so you can re inflate a dodgy tyre in an emergency. I'm pretty sure there are a couple of those emergency light sticks in my car too - the kind you crack and shake to make them glow.

We seem to had quite a bit of snow too, although I don't know why it should have been so deep on the exact paths I wanted to tread!  6" or so in most places (fields, yard, etc), but 12-18" drifts on the way to the animals!

I usually use a wheelbarrow to carry hay bales to the cows, but it was such a nightmare I gave up and carried them in by hand.  Likewise, the sheep.

The pigs looked quite cosy (they seem to enjoy breakfast in bed in this weather), but with a thick layer of snow on top of a deep layer of mud, you start to wonder if you still have legs!

Still, all the animals are looking well, and now the wind has dropped and the snow is melting, things should be easier tomorrow and beyond.

The ducks feet were clean though, and the dogs came in from their run without walking mud everywhere.  Bliss!

Some pics...

The lane running past our place looks pretty clear. The problems start when you get to the T junction at the end - because that is the drift of all the snow that is no longer on the lane.
The other problem is that the winds have been so strong and so cold that they have polished the surface and it is really slippery
Has anyone else noticed how 'squeaky' the snow is this weekend lol It is really loud when you tread on it

I think he logs in when he wants to post something or has to answer someone. In fairness to him, reading the weather isn't really his bag, but he might do because he knows I'm watching it for safety.
If there is any formula one on tv, or drag racing, there's no chance.
