Ah well, he tried. It appears to be raining lightly here now. _________________ Neeps Flickr Group - check out some of the fab photos from other Neepsters and share some of your own. |

I was going to ask for some feedback as to whether to travel or not but it looks like it might be a good idea to stay here another day.
Looking at your drive kimmie, I should think ours is pretty much the same.
Can anyone tell me what the local forecast is for the next day or so, as regards the road conditions please - the more feedback the better. If it helps, my usual route is Dundee, Aberdeen, Dyce, Oldmeldrum, Turriff, Aberchirder, home.
I'm really not so worried if I can't get the car down to the house as I can leave it at the farm, phone Gordon to keep me the right way up and walk, our neighbours are good in so many ways. It might even be useful to have the car on that side of the drifts, iykwim. _________________ It is better to light a candle than to rail against the darkness

We had another 5cm last night, but nothing further today. There's still no sign of the council gritters so while the roads are ploughed they're very treacherous.
The OH has taken the boys to a party up near Turriff so she had to leave early and drive slowly, but she shouldn't have problems thanks to having the Defender with its mud and snow tyres. In fact, I know she loves driving it in weather like this! |

| just take it easy , theyll keep the main roads open, and just in case make sure youve got a big quilt with you. my driveway is not a typical example, cars are driving around, its just where it had drifted on the picture. |

Spoke to Gordon and seen the traffic warnings on Ceefax in the meantime. He says that the snow is heading down the country from the NE, followed by rain and that I would be driving through it at some point as a result. There are two lanes of the M6 closed by an accident and a lorry fire so it would drag out the journey.
Because of this, I am leaving it until tomorrow night - unless it still looks bad and I have to leave it until Tuesday. Luckily, I don't have to be back for a set date so I'm opting for being sensible instead.
I will be watching ths section closely though, so if it isn't too much trouble to you all, I would really appreciate any updates that you want to put on. Thankyou all _________________ It is better to light a candle than to rail against the darkness

We're not on a main road and the OH's destination isn't either, and it's a bit of a trek from the here to the A96 when the back roads are covered in snow and ice. But we're used to it—I managed to get the Defender and a trailer load of sheep over Gartly Moor with two to three feet of snow on the road a couple of winters back.
And we have a lot more than a quilt in our Land Rover. Spades, blankets, hessian sacks, a sack of grit, recovery gear, gas bottle and cooker, water, food, first aid kit, etc etc. We've never needed the gear for snow (yet), but we've hauled quite a few cars out of various situations, we can picnic whenever we feel like it, haul ourselves out of mud, etc. |

Yep I would agree with that especially at one point where the fields are open and the snow just blows straight across. |
