I hate it when they don't tell you (on Amazon etc) which order the books were published in. Ian Ranking has the number on each of his books of the Rebus series, which is great. |
While in some ways it is worth reading them in order, it's not really required with PTerry. |

Agreed, although I still try. Got a box of 16 Terry Pratchett books for a fiver at the Tayport car boot sale a few months back and I'm still working my way through them. You might like to try Robert Rankin as well, similar style although the Discworld is substituted for Brentford. The Brentford Triology - which is seven books - is a good place to start. _________________

Yeah, read some RR in the past. I see he follows on from DA in the absurb trilogies |

I've.... never.... read a terry pratchett book ever....
There, I said it. I think we may have ONE on one of the bookshelves somewhere. _________________ Neeps Flickr Group - check out some of the fab photos from other Neepsters and share some of your own. |

Then you need to. Although someone mentioned a couple of them as being the best, it differs from reader to reader. Due to my love of music I found Soul Music to be a really good read, but then I love them all. I did try a couple of the kids books he wrote as well but I always found myself just wishing they were discworld novels instead.
He's got a good writing style and there are so many "in jokes" and references to so many different books, films, etc. I'm sure I've not noticed them all either.
My only real problem with his books are the length... I read quite quickly so they only ever take me a day or two to finish |

The kids books were my introduction to him - read Truckers, Diggers and Wings in quick succession when I was about ten. The Johnny books were quite excellent too. Couldn't get into the discworld novels back then though. Thirteen or fourteen years later I picked up The Colour of Magic and I've been mad keen on them since. _________________

A few years ago I spent hours and hours playing discworld on the PC. I eventually found a 'walkthrough' don't think I would have ever managed without it. Brilliant fun. Unfortunately I can't find one of the discs anymore _________________ Sassinak

I loved Truckers and the like. Especially the wee story about the tiny rainforest frogs. _________________
