I mentioned these dates in my composting talk at work and got a few incredulous stares and smirks.

But some folk were definitely interested.  I'll post the phone number at work and see if anyone is interested.

Thanks to Ina - who will be attending - look forward to meeting you. And to peteinthehills for trying.  I used to live in Huntly, and have a mate who lives in Rhynie - I take it you are in the wilds of the Cabrach??

Cheers

Ina, Margaret and I went to this yesterday - well worth the time. Go to the Pitcapel one next month if you can.

Great talk in the morning about both community composting and home composting. Lost of great tips and the opportunity to ask questions (well, just butt in really   ). Great fun.

Fab venue and lunch - worth a visit and definately a great venue if you're looking for somewhere a bit different.

The afternoon was beekeeping. Again, very informative talk from a couple of passionate bee-keepers.

Good to meet you MC.

If you're looking for constructive criticism, make the bee-keeping talk as long as the composting one - there were so many interesting questions we could have gone on for hours

The only complaint I have about the day yesterday - TOO MUCH FOOD!!!!! And really nice stuff, too. Still have some cakes at home now (they gave us doggy bags...)

Oh, and if I was being picky, why was an event about compost and promoting the Reduce Reuse Recycle motto using polystyrene cups?

Actually, although it was the polystyrene cups that were out, a selection of biodegradeable ones were available - there were only a few though.  Also the location was Benholm Mill, and they are a seperate organisation to Aberdeen Forward who operate the Master Composter Project and Community Composting.  It is something we might look to provide at future talks though to tie up the circle as it were.

Glad people had a good time and yes it was some spread put on for everyone.

As mentioned - next up is the Pitcaple Environmental Project event on 15th March from 10.30am.  All welcome.

Hoping to organise more talks soon - one is likely to be Wsethill area, as this has one of the lowest take ups of compost bins in Aberdeenshire.

Take care all

We did realise that... Still, it's amazing how often polysterene cups are still used! Once, at an "environment day" at Inverurie, I think it was the local WI or so doing the catering: all polysterene and paper plates.... Argh! (Oh, and Nescafe   ) Needless to say, we refused to take refreshments.
