I've a taste for this now, I think a talent I've found
In truth it's always been there, but I've just never got round
To taking some time out, and persuing my dream
To put my poetry on paper, and then have it seen
By eyes that appreciate, a simple way with a word
That stays in the mind, when in rhyme it is heard
A good way of teaching, our children so dear
Good ways in our world, with guidance and cheer
So if anyone out there, can draw pictures for words
Or has connections that print, so my words can be heard
I'd be grateful for help, or advice on my prose
Or of course criticism, shoved under my nose
I'd also appreciate, suggestions for themes
Not already on my list, to add to my dreams
So enough of this now (they all breath a sigh)
I'll end my wee poem, and look to the sky
For inspiration that keeps, my mind overflowing
With help from some Neeps, to bestseller I'll be going !!
List of themes for poems:
Please and thank you.
“Pardon?” not, “what?”.
Washing hands before dinner.
Using the loo.
Getting dressed.
Brushing teeth.
Bedtime routine – Clean face, toothpaste, tinkle and a hug.
Tidying your room.
Crossing the road.
Picking up litter.
Recycling.
Too much telly turns brains into jelly.
Eating your greens ! _________________ NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE FORCE......... |

I'll give it a go.......and I'll also work on my spelling....(pursue.....pursue....pursue.....).....
FMN, do you remember Mr Cant at Middleton Primary School? He always said my imagination would serve me well and take me far, but that my spelling was atrocious....!!! _________________ NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE FORCE......... |

Calling all musicians or church goers....Does anyone know this hymn? It's the tune I need for a song in one of my children's poems. It always makes me think of American children singing it for some reason), but it goes:
Daa de daaa daa daa daa daa daa
Daa de daa daa daaaaaa
Daa de daa daa daa daa daa daa
Daa de daa daa daaaaaa
Daa daa daa daa daa daa daaaaa
Daa daa daa daa daaaaa
Daa daa daa daa daa daa daaaaa
Daa daa daa daa daaaaa

maybe the parents will take something from it too.
Wish I could illustrate - just havn't got it in me. Can see the images so well, but couldn't put them on paper....sorry. You definately have a talent...especially if you can roll such rhyming verse off in an afternoon. Now I've done the praise, may I shove sommat under ones nose? So sorry. Love the lil' bunny poem and the moral in its tale...but...(please don't take offence)...think it could do with a re-draft or two, some tinkering perhaps, as when you read it aloud, as you would to a child it's a bit clumsy. Some of the rhyme is wobbly, do you know what I mean?
Not the foggiest what to do about your da da di da prob _________________ Better late than never! |

Try this version, constructive criticism is always good, and I rarely take offence at anything.....appreciate it......
Little bunny catches a cold
A long time ago, in a field far away
A young baby bunny, was starting the day
She ran from her warren, feeling fluffy and bright
She saw the fresh dew, and squeaked with delight
Dew on the grass was a new thing to bunny
For she had been born in the Summer so sunny
With a hop and a jump she ran into the dew
The cold and the wet was a feeling so new
Playful and happy, she jumped with pure joy
And played in the dew, like her own special toy
She hopped and she jumped and she ran with glee
But soon she got dizzy, and bumped into a tree!
The leaves on the tree, gave a big wiggle
And dripped onto bunny, which made her head jiggle
Fresh dew on grass, and drips from wet leaves
Can make bunnies cold, and give them a sneeze
Bunny called for her mummy, and mummy appeared
Poor bunny had caught, a cold mummy feared
Bunny felt poorly, and started to cough
Mum said, “It’s because, you left your coat off.”
So back to the warren, they went to get dressed
Warm coat and gloves, and a warm cotton vest
Wellington boots, and now bunny knew
She’d be cosy and dry, when she played in the dew
Now bunny’s older, but she remembers that day
The way she’d caught cold, when in dew she did play
And now bunny knows, on a cold and wet morn
That a coat, gloves and wellies, make sure she stays warm…

I can't post on here
This is because my speciality is reeling off lewd parodies of well known songs/rhymes - especially when drunk and uninhibited.
I seem to remember there was one specially good one called Mammaries - Gladys Knight would have got the gist _________________ It is better to light a candle than to rail against the darkness
