Well it was yesterday, but I made bread. I used the dough setting on the breadmaker and made some by hand too.

The BM recipe included milk powder, sugar, butter on top of the yeast, flour, salt and water that made up the recipe for the hand made version.

Both doughs rose well - the handmade one took a bit longer to rise but then it wasn't in the warm controlled environment of the breadmaker.

The BM bread was a lot fluffier than the handmade bread - and we all preferred the taste and texture of the handmade bread (I made them blind taste so there was no bias. The crusts were pretty good on both of them but I think the handmade bread had the edge.

Today - I toasted a slice of each and melted cheese on the top - again the handmade bread came out tops.

Both breads were much tastier than the bread that is baked directly in the breadmaker - and really the handmade one only took 10 mins extra in terms of kneading and is well worth that time in my opinion.

I'm childishly pleased at how well this has turned out  It's a homemade chocolate cake (two layers of course) sandwiched together with chocolate icing. The outside is buttercream frosting and the spiders are tunnoch's tea cakes covered in chocolate icing and dipped in sprinkles. The head is a malteser, the same.... and the legs are mint matchsticks. Smartie eyes

Not so eco-friendly (or tooth or backside friendly) but it's for the kids Halloween Party tomorrow.

So far..... Toffee Apple cookies, they smell amzing from the oven, yet to see whether they fall apart. Trial batch for tomorrow's fundraiser so looks as important as taste for once.
