You'll never guess what I pulled out the skip today....A thread for all our wonderful skipping finds!
I'll start with my galvanized giant chicken feeder found next to the bins at local recycling depot

Skip FindsWoW!!!
What a find.
I've managed to get a mpountain bike and a bench for inside my chook area in one weekend recently but now willprobably have a drought for months.

Good finds!!! I'm heading back down there today (to contribute unfortunately but its just old wire) and hoping to happen across some broken paving slabs

and todays haul
5 huge plastic plant pots
A new egg basket
A random woven basket
A hanging basket
All in immaculate condition!
Tip for recycling recycling hauls - a bit of long stick with a hook on the end is invaluable

Ha ha - good tip on the stick! I remember when I was little and my Grandad would come back with loads of treasures. I don't think he ever actually bought a bike but always owned one

Ok today has to go down in history as one of the best skipping days I have ever ever, EVER had!
15, yes 15 ex scaffolding planky things
24 paving slabs
2 tractor tyres
2 lorry tyres
I am happier than a pig in the proverbial

Excellent Finds!
I've been keeping an eye on freecycle & Gumtree for paving slabs...
Wonder if the nice man at our local recycling centre would part with some if I asked nicely

Honest its so worth just sticking your neck out and asking. I was petrified. You might get gruff reposte but on the other hand...
Todays find were via a builders skip. I was rabidly enthusing over its contents and think the guy was too scared to argue he seemed delighted to find a way of getting rid of his tyres and looked visibly concerned for my mental health when I cracked up after he told me he'd just burnt another 15 scaffolding planks...

Do you drive a truck to/from the place? if the paving slabs were the normal 3'x2' ones they weight heaps... I mind sticking 6 or 8 in the boot of the discovery and you could see it much lower at the rear (and feel it when driving)... even 24 of the wee thin things would weight a bit I'd guess (pluss all your tyres ).

my best findstop of my list is chicken wire, yes chicken wire (new) must be 15m of the stuff from the Ellon tip. I also got a stepladder (the guy was just about to chuck it away).
the best skip miss was most of a 100m reel of 2.5mm shielded electric cable, my brother found it but was on foot and it was gone by the time he went back with the car. I cant belive they would chuck it out, must be worth £50!

I was down in St Andrews today sorting out my son's flat there (he is away) and took an old bed to the recycling centre there, and a retired man in the car in front was unloading heaps of things. I could see a leather suitcase amongst all the stuff and brazenly asked him if I could have it. He was quite happy to give it to me, even emptied it first of old videos (oh yes ....?!) - but my daughter was HORRIFIED! I've now got 4 old leather suitcases and plan to stack them one on top of the other with stuff in, like you see in the posh mags! I was dying to see what else he had in his car to throw out, but my daughter made me drive off and not be so nosy!
