Snow!

School is closed for J... for C... and for David too but yet the snow isn't that bad.

Big thanks to the Original FM text service for sending me a text at 7.15 this morning to let me know that J's school was closed. What a great service.
Diana

Snow here too, but after yesterday's rain it's not that thick (loads must have come down though)

Rain!!! GRRRRR mum lied to me again
lachlanandmarcus

we've got about 4 inches of snow and its not stopped yet....I cant help loving it! sorry kimmie!

the horses have been running around in it and the dogs have loved it, taggie the terrier has snowballs on her chest stuck to her....

I think a lot of the schools here have caught the same disease the people down south have... and they all want a day of work/school.

Roads weren't gritted (as usual) but it's not that bad. School bus still never made an appearance so my wife dropped our eldest at school to be told, you might as well take her home again, 'cos we're thinking of shutting anyway (still haven't heard if they have yet or not). Means either I need to go and work from home, or my wife needs to take a days holiday so she can stay at home with her this afternoon... a right royal PITA... wouldn't be so bad if there were a few feet of snow, etc but it's 3-5 inches at worst... most of the roads aren't even as bad as that, inch or two at most on them.

Pffff... bunch of bl00dy pansies in charge these days... our school was always open on days far worse than this.

Yup... still snowing here in Dyce. It's funny looking at the road cameras...

If you look at the Ellon ones and then look at Huntly or the ones south of Aberdeen, you'd imagine they were a LOT further apart.

Or you could always sit and watch the webcams here http://www.cairngormmountain.co.uk/ and pretend you are looking out your own window

Phil sent me an email saying that it was snowing quite heavily in Aberdeen and to ring and tell him if things got bad here so that he could get home.
I had to give him the sad news that he doesn't get a day off work because we have rain
Cassiepod

Been snowing lightly and constanly in Aberdeen all morning. Had some snow at home whihc made getting to the main road fun (only a mile) and then basically passable roads, although you should drive with caution.

I'd never want to oblige anyone to drive in conditions they feel aren't safe though... We had the land rover with new tyres with tread patterns designed for snow/slush.

Lovely It's starting to snow harder here now - was more like snow drizzle for a while and so the levels dropped.

Crap photo but snow *is* pretty though   Its actually slowing a bit now though, probably be gone by teatime.
IainC

Looks more like a slight drizzle of rain here as and when it's doing anything. Would imagine most of it would be gone by night, then if the temps get down low enough it'll all freeze and tomorrow will be worse than today due to ice, not snow.
Ina

Oh blast - so you really do have snow further south... I'm in Turriff just now - it's been rain all day and still is. I was hoping to get to Aboyne tonight, but not if it's snowing. What are my chances?!?!?!?
Cassiepod

Ina, If you're heading to aboyne for the film, it's been cancelled according to vital veg 'cos of the snow.....
Ina

Just read it on the other thread - thanks!
