Update on the House !!Just thought I would let people know how things are going with the conversion.
I lost my temper with the Polish builders and told them to F*** off - and they did lol
We have since found another joiner who has half the staircase installed and will hopefully be back this weekend to do some more.
We have found a new plumber who has installed most of the bathroom equipment and is waiting for the drainage to be put in (Next week in theory!!) and then that should be all systems go.
Electrician hopefully coming this weekend (I'm not holding my breath) to sort out the Polish cock-ups - there are quite a few. e.g. no isolator switch for the electric shower or the electric bath components !! A 13 amp socket to power a range cooker !!
But the good news is that our bedroom is completely decorated. The corridor and utility room have the floors tiled and the walls papered. The upstairs bedroom is wallpapered, as is the study.
It is looking like a house so I am chuffed to bits. I can finally see light at the end of the long tunnel
I will post about the housewarming when we are ready to move in

Sorry to hear about the various hassles you've had, but good news that things are now moving on. Hope your sparkie turns up soon - no room for mistakes like that when it comes to electricity methinks.

I've been following the story of your house conversion since I first joined NEEPS and it is good to know that your long wait is nearly at an end. Fingers, toes and eyes crossed!

Lots more been happening - and some that hasn't !!
I rang a drilling company yesterday morning to arrange to have 2 core holes drilled through the walls. 1 for the stove flue and 1 for the kitchen extractor hood. They came in the afternoon and did it £300 fo 2 holes, but it would have taken many hours of work with a chisel and would have been messy. These are really nead circular holes
We have a huge digger on site at the moment trenching to connect the drains to the septic tank. He will hopefully sort out some of the ground levels at the same time.
The bad news is that the sparkie who promised to be here today is invisible He came out a couple of weeks ago and said he would come out today and finish the work off !!! grrr

Seems to be something that's common with sparkies... inlaws had one do so much work in their place for him to then leave and not finish off the work. Had to get someone else in a good while later to finish off the work.

Hope its not our sparkie! He was here yesterday putting in the junction box for the electric for the stables (hurrah) and the entirely mythical barn (just a concrete base for the forseeable but one day!).
We are also twiddling our thumbs as have waited 6 weeks for our stonemason and 2 weeks for the plasterer so far....and we cant get any further without them!!

The good news for today is that the digger uncovered a large concrete apron outside what was the old silage pit. This is where the Partridge Pekin run is and I have squidged through the mud for months - no make that years !!
The bad news is that they have now removed all the concrete because that's where the sewer pipe is running
Oh well it was nice seeing it briefly lol

I have a warm house
No we haven't set fire to it, although there have been times when I've been tempted lol
The geothermal heat exchange pump and underfloor heating were powered up yesterday and the lounge is already at 20degres (C not F !!)
The pump isn't as noisy as we were told it might be. There is a low rumble, but nothing that is very disturbing.

wow that sounds fantastic, quite green and envious as we havent got geothermal at this stage. Must be lovely to be warm esp when from the earth!!!

sorry to seem like nitpicking but they are not geothermal and it bugs me when people refer to it as such. We had one in our previous house and it worked great. The correct term is 'ground source heat' pump, essentially they are a solar system. Unless you live in Iceland, you would have to drill a long way to get geothermal here!

But surely geo means ground and the heat is being recovered from the ground

Spent the first night in the house - Yippee
The carpet in our bedroom was fitted Friday morning so me and Nix and her fella spent the afternoon moving furniture in and setting the bed up.
Still no electrics, but we had an extension lead running from the workshop which powered the lights for us.
The bedroom is huge - 6 metres by 5 metres. Our new bed is a super-king size. 6ft wide 7ft long. The sheer bliss after 4 years in a caravan bed which you had to shuffle sideways to pass.
I am soooo happy
Just need to get the rest of the house to match it now lol

Picture of the bedroom Please ignore the formica wardrobes, they are temporary until we can get the fitted ones built
And a couple of pictures of my half finished kitchen.
It still needs little things like an electric supply and the sink plumbing in, and the wall cupboards are sitting on top of the base units in leu of the worktops that haven't arrived yet. But I am sooo pleased with how it is looking that I had to share

It looks wonderful.

What's wrong with formica? I've still got a clothes hanger thingymibob on wheels....and I'm not in a caravan either just a very small room! Formica would be a step closer to dust free clothes for me.

Discovered a strange side effect to this house - It has shrunk my dogs !! lol
I used to have 2 huge border collies taking up a lot of the floor space in the caravan. they now slip rather inconspicuously into a corner of whatever room I'm in haha Brilliant
