Trying to do my bit.I work in the local vets and the computer always prints out an A4 sheet of paper for the receipt. For the past 6 months, I've started to ask people if they want one, rather than print one automatically. It is amazing how much paper I've saved- a lot of people don't want more waste paper and the boss is happy because I am saving money- a win/ win situation.

Good for you
It has always been my belief that every little helps and if we are all making as many small contributions as we can manage every day, it adds up to a big contribution.
Sometimes the occasional member will suggest that we aren't as green as they would like us to be on Neeps and I always think it is unfair.
If we all listed every small adjustment that we made to our consumer habits or everything we did without to avoid waste, it might be more obvious to those few I guess.
Maybe we should start to show and tell a bit more as it would give others ideas too??
I take my friend's recycling along when I do my own.
I do without anything that is overpackaged, even if I really want it.
I bake four loaves at a time and freeze three. I hang up the plastic bags I use to dry out above the Rayburn and reuse them for the next batch - same as the frozen fruit, pies, veg etc...It is embarrassing if I have visitors too but you've gotta do it:oops:
I drive a 1.4L engine car and use a trailer, despite a third of a mile of rough farm track - who needs gas guzzlers.........
Anyone else want to add to the list, we all love good ideas and will adopt them if we can???

We now get tesco to deliver and choose not to have bags, often when we go we discover we've left our reusable bags at home.
I've started to collct all glass bottles to (hopefully) use for when my garden becomes more productive and I get time to do some preserving.
This may be a bit optimistic, but at least I'm thinking aboutit.

It's quite annoying when you get halfway round the store and realise you don't have your bags isn't it.
Mine live in the boot of my car as I only use them for shopping so I don't see the point in keeping them in the house. I have been known to put everything back in the trolley and pack it into my bags in the car park. I suppose you could just as easily shove it all in the boot and take it home that way although it would be inconvenient.
I see in the news that they are now looking for places to store all the recycled paper and card because the price has dropped. I favour the suggestion that it be incinerated to heat hospitals and such, as they do in Coventry and other places.

its quite ironic really, i remember the shpril about how computors would save the use of paper, almost fell for it
but when people are printing 2 words on an a4, and why not do four while your at it, it makes you wonder, paper industry in trouuble not because paper isnt being used, cause it is, its just the type of papers needed have changed, chirade comes to mind fiasco, , that coms too, bullshit, another one
