Transition Movie Premiere ONLINE this Saturday at 1.45pm

The new 1-hour long Transition movie premiere will be shown online this Saturday at 1.45 pm.

You''ll be able to see the movie from this web page:  www.transitionculture.org/2009/05/04/coming-soon-the-international-premiere-of-in-transition/

Here's the blurb:
"In the film you will see the stories of communities creating their own currencies, setting up their own pubs, planting trees, growing food.  You’ll see local authorities getting behind their local Transition initiatives, and get a sense of the scale of this emerging movement.  It is a story of hope, and it is a call to action."

I'll post this on the Transition area too ... please post your feedback after you've seen it - I think there'll be an opportunity to pass that back to the film-makers themselves ... we want this to be irresistibly compelling!

Excellent! Thanks for posting this.

I hope I can get my maching to play it - sound currently bust!

I wonder whether it will be available to watch after the event as many folk will be out on a Saturday.
Ina

Well - that's another incentive to get my computer up and going by tomorrow!

Did anyone manage to see this?  After they showed it to us in London they said the live link hadn't worked, but did they show it later online?
Ina

I've not managed - although I must admit I wasn't online in time, anyway...

Was it any good?

Thanks again for posting this, been out of the loop for a couple of weeks so I'm just trying to catch up.

Found another site worth having a look at; www.relocalize.net

Our next meeting is at the bOat Inn again on Thursday 28th May, 7.30ish.

I think I already posted this but if not I realise it may be very short notice. We want to try and get some ideas for practical projects on the go for this meeting, o any ideas would be welcome!

see you then, Transition Gus

Yes, definitely worth a watch. It shows some of the initiatives that are already underway in various communities.  There's a wee lad from Scotland who is brilliant - didn't get his name, but watch out for him when you see the film!

One criticism was that it's very 'white' and middle class, but it's made up mostly from film clips put together by the transition communities themselves ... which highlights a problem that although the goal is to be very inclusive, so far there are many 'ethnic' communities which are not involved, or at least, not to the extent that they were submitting film clips.

Having said that, I went to Brixton on a walking tour while down there, and there was a good mix of cultures involved in a new community gardening / orchard project.

Anyway, just checked the website and it looks as though the techology for online streaming broke down, but I'll post an update if I hear that it's going to be broadcast online again before the official release date of September-ish.

Thanks! My computer seems to be "silent" - so unless the firm has subtitles, I'll need to find another PC...

I think the white and middle class thing could also depend on what kind of towns are taking part: around here, almost everybody is white and middle class.
