Tractor tyreAny ideas what I can do with an old tractor tyre?

make a table - i've been after one for ages. Circular piece of exterior shuttering ply will make a good top.

Fill it with soil/compost and grow something you like.Maybe paint the out side to make it prettier. My choices would be perennial aromatic herbs or lots of cheerful bedding plants.

If I made a table out of it would that be good for the goats to jump on?

When I used to tether one of my goats to tidy up weedy corners, I tied the chain to a tractor tyre - when I had to move her, I stood the tyre on its tread and rolled it about (not with the goat still tied on to it tho!)

Yea! Monster truck!!! Great inner city parking solution
I like the idea of planting it out with something. How about a mini herb garden close to the kitchen? Mediterranean herbs like a well drained soil I think. Also, if you put the Marjoram, Thyme, and anything else that creeps a bit on the outer edge, they will tumble over the edges and disguise the tyre eventually.
By the way, nice to meet you and your mini mite the other day, I didn't see you to say goodbye, sorry.

its amazing what you can do with a tractor tyre, although i think the monster truck is a bit far fetched sounds good though

Really like the herb bed idea - it would make a great base for the beginning of a 'herb spiral'. I'll try and find a link later for this - it's designed so that the herbs spiral from bottom to top, which means they are dryer/wetter sunny/shaded as needed.
You could also use it for tatties and throw soil in to earth them up?
I bet i know what my little one would do with a tractor tyre and a hill - hamster wheel comes to mind.

Unsurprisingly hubby fancies the monster kart idea though as we are on the side of a hill it would need HUGE breaks to stop him ending up in Huntly
If anyone would like it I am happy to rehome it. Wildgarlic are you wanting one?

............and if more than one person wants one, then try your local tyre place. They have to pay to have them taken away and disposed of, so they are more than happy to let you have anything that isn't going for re -treads.
I sometimes pick up a few trailer loads from Charlie Chalmers at Glenbarry. We use them for various things.
He has tractor tyres too, but I've never asked him about taking them, to be fair.

Hmmm... only thing I can think you could use trail loads of tyres for is for safety barriers round a race track... you have your own private race track
If you weren't going to use the tyre yourself, and no-one else wanted it you could always speak to the local farmer, who might be able to use it on top of the silage pit (or a spare for the tractor depending on how "resourceful" he happens to be).
