toyota pick upbaught a hi lux and it is not being very nice, uses more fuel than my husbands hgv lorry and overheats. It also has no power to pull even a small trailer.
We have checked the timing and it is all ok injectors seem to be fine, changed the filters, and also fitting a new radiator.
Any sugestions please before I drive it off the harbour wall.

Possibly the thermostat, that can certainly cause it to use more fuel than normal and if it's siezed then it'd allow it to overheat as well.
Other than that I dunno?

run the engine till its the right tempetrature, then carefully with a towel, and be carefull, loosen the water bottle lid, then when the pressure is released, take a look in it and see whether the water is returning via the little spout inside the boottle, this will be near the toop, if that is flowing then the water is circulating, if not then you have a blocckage somewhere as ianc says , more than likely the thermostat. not sure about the excessive fuel though, i wouldnt think they would do anymore than 28 to the gallon anyway.its possible that you injector pump is needing attention, maybe, but checjk the first thing first
