the old banger

I can't open the drivers door of my car from the inside, can someone point me in the direction of being able to repair it please
Smooth Hound

what type of car is it, or more to the point is it a manually locking one or electric
baldowrie

central locking,  Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin.  The interior handle is neither loose or stiff, although doesn't go back properly.  It doesn't release the catch on the door

Oh and I am not recieving notifcation emails either now so have to keep looking
Smooth Hound

so when you try the handle it feels normal but when you let go again it doesnt seem to go back right to its normal position,
baldowrie

yes that's right
Smooth Hound

it sounds like the mechanism, as opposed to the electrics, ithink, ill have to be honest i dont really know, but i think ive asked you all the questions that need to be known so that when someone else that probably knows about this sort of thing , will be able to diagnose the problem
Smooth Hound

im sure mr als will know about this sort of thing  itll probably involve taking the interoir panel off so you can see
baldowrie

cheers guys, got trusty over sized screw driver out today and gave things good yank and the panel came off..just a couple of screws to undo. Better check the electric windows are ok I think  forgot about that!

The mechanism was still connected and working as it should except the rod that joins the handle to the lock had been 'elongated'.  I bent it a little and it's now running smoothly...gave it all a god old spray up with WD40 to be on the safe side.

Now to tackle the barn hasp and clasp...kiddies broke the only key off in the padlock, can't find the spare, so I have to force the old clasp off and put a new one on...taking a coffee break before getting back to with axe, trusty screw driver again and metal saw. Of course it's all hardened steel for security!

Maybe I should take up house breaking?
Smooth Hound

sounds pretty much like someone did try to force it, maybe you shoul put the lock and clasp on the car door thats what i did on my van
baldowrie

just I was thinking regarding forcing the door, and I know exactly who that would be...different person but same troubles as Stoney!

Oh and trusty screw driver and hack saw evetnually sorted the broken barn lock out!
IainC

I think I'm quite glad I live where I live... dunno if I could put up with neighbours like you lot

Amateurs . Everyone knows that all you need is either a length of the flat metal stuff that holds pallets of bricks together, or a wire coathanger with some insulating tape looped around one end.
IainC

Pfff... I was thinking all you needed was a brick
misteralz

That's slapdash, that is.

That would be if they wanted to actually break in...no this lot want to just cause me as much problems as possible and if they can make it so I have to keep spending money I MAY, I stress may, have to sell my house cheap to them.

The have 2 chances, neither of which I can publish on an open forum![/url]
baldowrie

well doors has 'gone' again!

If it runs true to form this will happen a another 2 times before it stops...or before it's realised it's not costing me anything if you want to be a cynic!

Of course I can't prove anything other that the mechanism stops working even though it's all still in tact!
baldowrie

this time the desired effect has been achieve and the wire has broken!
