JoH

hurrah! Hope the sea was smoother than expected and that tornado didn't reappear
Smooth Hound

it was very rough actually, shouldnt have gone out really,   but i just wanted to test the new boat really, had a quick 10 min fish with some featheres and caught a couple,   so its fresh mackerel for t tonight
Townie

That's great news... now to get my OH to take me out fishing
wildgarlic

Great - well as D has just bought two rods we'd better make them pay for themselves pdq!!
Smooth Hound

we will have to work something out,   its hard to work out though tying in weather work , distance, etc. but we will work something out, i could fit 5 adults comfortably, including myself. 2 or 3 rods would be enough, all thats sorted out, or could be easily, its just anticipating the conditions a week a head is the hard bit, we would need to have a fall back plan, maybe a camp out, with the hope of going out, the other thing is is life jackets, we would need to borrow a couple.
Maria

Ooooh yummy - put A Fine Malt on the list of wanna be mackrel catchers please.
Smooth Hound

    will do.

i think what ill be doing is starting a thread, and when i think im going out ill put it on the thread, and then people can see but i will say , i only have 2 maybe 3 if i can find the otherone life jackets, and i wont be taking anyone without an available life jacket,
myra

I think that by law you have to have life jackets on now, could be wrong but sure we heard that somewhere, wise not to risk it anyway.
Smooth Hound

your right i think, im not really interested in the law though, its my peace of mind, its a big responsibility taking people that arent really sea aware out in a boat,   and i need to know that people can be safe till a life boat comes,
by the way i have a radio now, so me and jim will be able to keep in contact

i noticed jims boat was in the water, has he been out.

How do you cook your mackerel SH? What's your favourite method?
Smooth Hound

stick it in a plastic bag, with a nob of butter a sprinkle of pepper, and stick it in the microwave seriously, its a good way, keeps it moist , and it tastes great.   its got to be fresh though, stick a mackerel in the freezer and its not the same, doesnt have the fresh moist sea taste.
if i was away id do it in tin foil on the barbecue with the same things
myra

no he's not been out, he's been away in Glasgow for few days for a funeral only been home about 15 minutes, guess he will be out next week though especially with mackerel heading in.
Smooth Hound

oh right,
