Take away foodWell... I haven't had a take away for a good long while... and as my mum's kitchen is a bit on the small side, and as we've been back and forth to the hospital we decided to treat ourselves tonight.
I won't be bemoaning the fact that we don't have take aways near to us again - and if I do please remind me that it cost us £20 for one meal that was only mediocre in terms of taste and quality.
David had fried beef with chilli - beef was fatty and stringy and pretty tasteless.
I had char sui pork with a szechwan sauce - the sauce was ok but the meat not very good.
J had chinese vegetable soup - a gloopy brown soup with a few veggies floating in it.
We did share with my brother too
Luckily the bottle of wine that we bought from the local off licence made up for it - and D got a couple of tins of Polish lager which he has enjoyed.

not all Take Aways are created equal.

you should try the indian in Huntly.
As a devote of the art of curry and a survivor of the curry mile in Manchester I can say that they have some of the best curries I've ever had.

I saw one take away in Aberdeen that advertises they don't use nasty additives (MSG, is it?); if I lived there still I would have liked to try that one out. I think it's in Queens Street.

Funnily enough we rarely eat takeaways either BUT we had one last night... also cost us ~ £20 for two meals but mine was lovely (Chicken Madras, Naan, usual extras, plus a Korma for my wife).
We'd got from the Spice of Life in Inverurie, always been quite nice whenever I've had from there.
Have also had one from somewhere down south, one of the guys was banging on about his "local" where he used to stay (Bolton or somewhere like that) and he ordered enough for us all and had it shipped up... was lovely, and had the added benefit of me getting the large polystyrene packing box to use as a heatsink for the greenhouse

How long have you got???
Years ago... and I mean years.... we went to TV studios in Manchester to be part of an audience for a TV show. Guesting was Ken Hom.
AND .... on a watch in Fire Brigade(I was a Firewoman) was a lovely Chinese man who taught us all to cook Chinese food (No MSG - never heard of it really then!) We are now quite good 'cookers' of Chinesed food!
Over the years spouse and I have cooked and re - worked Ken Hom's recipes, and we are now onto that girl who has her own programme on a Monday BBB2.
The 'odd' time we buy chinese takeaways, we always ask if MSG used... if yes we ask them NOT to use it.... or we walk out!!!! It so disagrees with 'my delicate nature' ....
I am not a lover of Indian food.... but I make a 'mean' Chicken Tikka!
Best takeaway for me... would be fish (provided batter crispy) and chips (absolutely no salt) ....but then its only perhaps twice a year I would buy it!
OMG... must get off this soapbox!

That's not Indian, that's British!
Can't even remember when I last had a take-away... There just aren't any around here. Oh, I'm lying; Fettercairn shop does pizza.

Well last night was the first time in ages I'd had an indian takeaway... must be a couple of years at least. Much prefer the spicier indian foods myself as well, although I still have memories of a couple of mates ordering vindaloos and asking them to make it extra spicey... you could feel the heat off their red faces even sitting at the opposite end of the table. They both had rivers of sweat running as well

Bd - which chinese in nairn is good? my experience of take aways in Nairn is pretty rubbish but i haven't tried all of them.
And I one tried one of the Indian takeaways - the quality of chicken was dreadful a peice of wood would have had more flavour....

Depends on what kind of meal you are having. My wife normally takes Kormas as she's not too keen on really spicey stuff but she's finding more and more that they are fairly tasteless from most places.

Alford has a great Indian restaurant and takeaway. Food is fantastic and for Iain's wife (and me!!) they have a few different Korma's all with loads of flavour.....Oh, I'm getting hungry now

I enjoyed a curry from Coriander in Banchory- I enjoy cooking curries but felt lazy and it was rather good! Also the Thai restaurant in Westhill does really nice curries (but you could do better fried rice yourself!). And we do get fish and chips from Banchory as a treat once in a Blue moon!
