swallow watch

Ok, its April that means that the swallows should be heading North across the UK.

In Cheshire where I'm from, it was around the 10-15th April when I'd see my first one, but up here its usually the end of the month.

Has anyone seen any yet?

I'm pretty sure I saw a couple yesterday but it was a fleeting glimpse - I'll be keeping a look out for them today!

I must remember to make a note of the date I first see them this year - it was something I was going to do last year but forgot ..

I definitely saw one on Monday at Muir of Fowlis - tried to take a photo out of the car window (wasn't driving!) but failed.

None yet tho I keep fooling myself that the pied wagtails on the roof of the barn are small swallows....until they start wagging their tails at me.....

I saw one flitting about here this morning, and again this evening. One swallow doesn't make a summer though, so looking forward to seeing a few more.
mike and louise

Saw our first one this morning in Kintore.
pete_inthehills

I saw one by the Oyne fork this evening and nearly didn't make it round the corner because of it.

But we're still waiting for the ones at home to appear.

Ours are back looking for new nesting sites in the outbuildings.  It is lovely to see them again
Sassinak

Mine are going to very upset when they do arrive this year. Last year they nested over the half completed ceiling in what is now my bedroom. I'm afraid that, much as Ilove them, I've closed the windows

There's loads around here each year.
