Survivors

Did anyone else watch survivors last night?

I remember the original series in the 70s and it had a real effect on me. Now that I am older and wiser, I wonder what effect the new one will have?
It is a fascinating idea to play with (apart from all the deaths of loved ones ) How many of the ordinary population would be capable of surviving without electricity, TV, telephone, running water and a supermarket on the corner ?
I don't for a moment doubt my ability to survive in a practical sense, but I don't know if i am strong enought to survive emotionally.

I watched it too.
Yep that's the bit I was finding interesting too.
monkey nuts

I watched it too.

I remember reading a book about the aftermath of a nuclear war when I was at school that had a huge effect on me too, this series is similar except there will be no fallout to contend with.  Really does make you think though, could you cope, or more to the point, would you want to cope without your family?? scarey stuff
kimmie

yes saw iy too...also thought it was interesting that how many people might try to carry on as normal(the ex prisioner for eg), if this did ever happen,
and how they took from supermarkets but not homes.

it alspo made me think how would i cope without things in my life! yep it made us think very hard!

I was a bit disappointed.

Where are the zombies?  It needs mindless flesh eating zombies.

And maybe Milla Jovovich.

And some big guns.

I can't watch stuff like that, I end up ranting about the plonkers on it and why this or that wouldn't work/happen because........

Having watched the first two episodes, I must say I think the original series was better. The first series although it may be a little slower paced, was....somehow grittier and more "real" although series three lost the plot a bit toward the end.
Having said that, I am still looking forward to the next episode.
And don't forget what Ray Mears says in his top tips to survive after the apocalypse......learn to be a blacksmith.

We both preferred the original series, but couldn't decide whether that was because the whole concept was new then and had shock value.
We have the original series on DVD and will watch it again once we have the TV and everything linked up in the house
