Soap NutsHas anyone came across these??
I saw something on the tv about using them with vinegar instead of washing powered, but i missed the whole thing and never found out where they could be sourced
I thought it was a great idea and saves the planet as well as some pennies in my purse

You can get them via the Neeps food co-op. I've got some in stock and could arrange a small quantity for you if you like.

Ahhh... now we sell lots of things in the neeps co-op and I can't possibly vouch for them all...
But... I do rather like the soap nuts. PM me your address and I'll send you a few to try as a sample. (or come along to the next food co-op meeting on the 26th January here)

The products I have had from the neeps co-op have been of a consistently high standard, I can't fault them on that.

I think like with most "green" alternatives to washing powder, you simply can't expect the same result as with conventional stuff: there's no bleach in them, so clothes will turn out a little duller in colour; and there's no perfume, so they don't smell "fresh". For me that's a bonus, but it takes some getting used to.

all the green detergents are so much more expensive, its like they are taking advantage of people who try n do their bit. or am i just tight?

I agree Ina.
I use Soap Pods with vinegar and for most things it's fine, but really dirty stuff (socks, white cuffs that were worn during gardening ) need extra attention (either presoaked in a bicarb solution, or using a spot on soap bar or regular detergent).

Blimey - that took a while. I thought we'd posted them first class.
Anyway - hope you like them, and if you want to order them, the food co-op makes an order once a month. Someone ordered some this time and I'll be posting them - not sure how much that will cost yet though but can let you know.... or perhaps you could come to a meet sometime
