Sit-on-top kayakNot exactly country ... more sea! I've got my kayak and have been out in it a few times. Haven't had time to do any fishing yet, but it is very stable and comfortable to sit in. First time out I paddled from Portsoy to Sandend and it was great. Our collie 'pup' Tess (9 months old) can sit on the back with me, and I got her a lifejacket, so if I capsize I know if I can swim to the shore so can she. I think it would take quite a rough sea to make it capsize and I am a bit of a wuss so I don't risk it. I must admit it is not as easy to paddle in a straight line as a proper sea kayak, but I'm not racing anywhere. It is just great to be out on the sea, no sounds except for the seabirds and the waves gently hitting the hull of the kayak. All I need now is interaction from seals and dolphins! and perhaps a fish or three.
