Sir Terry Pratchett - Wednesday 4th Feb.There is a 2 part series about Sir Terry Pratchett and his fight with Alzheimers starting on tv next Wednesday. I know many of you, like me, are fans of his work and thought I'd pop this on here.

I thought it was maybe a one off programme that was also repeated, rather than a 2 parter. Will have to make sure I set it to tape both just in case

wish more people had watched it. Had to explain yet again to neighbour why you don't hand over all our mail to grany in granyflat. It needs to go where it's addressed to not the woman with alzeimers. The man was a policeman, you'd think he'd have dealt with folk with memory problems before. Just because she's not a doddering old woman does not mean she can remember what she did with the electric bill or the letter from the taxman.

Another interesting piece about dementia or Alzheimers - John Suchet
My gran had Alzheimers and it was really hard at times when she couldn't recognise us and thought we were trying to steal her money or worse.

I think it also depends on when they get it IYKWIM. If someone who is quite old already gets it, it seems less of a waste IMO. Someone getting it at a very early age would be very hard to cope with I'd think.
Knew someone who's mum had it, she'd visit her mum in the hospital and her mum didn't even know who she was... and that went on for about 20 years IIRC. That would be very hard to deal with I think.
