Sexing GeeseI have myself three Geese.
Has anyone got any good advice about how to distinguish male from female and when will it become apparent that I can tell the difference.
Also if there is anyone out there that breeds geese in the Angus tayside and Aberdeenshire area?
that would be handy to know, should i need to get myslef a gander.

We keep geese - an embden gander and a embden x Toulouse goose. 4 goslings this year - almost certain we've got one gander in amongst them just from size and behaviour (not a guarantee). The undercarriage is the main way we tell - the goose has a lower central undercarriage which seems to be more pronounced at the breeding time whereas the gander appears to wear the trousers!
You could always turn them upside down and sex them according to this website - though I don't really fancy doing this myself!! http://www.fao.org/docrep/005/y4359e/y4359e07.htm#bm07
What kind of geese do you have?

Thank you for the link.
Its handy to know other Geese keepers in Scotland as i may need to get myself a gander at some point in the future.
Im pretty sure I have two Geese and one Gander, as one behaves rather differently from the other two, and does tend to be a bit protective over them, however as they are all brothers and sisters I will stilll need to find an outside unrelated Gander.
Please keep in touch I may need to seek out some geeses breeders quite soon. Perhaps when i find out for sure what they all are I could do a swap with someone???
My Geese are Embdens BTW.
Excuse me while I go turn My geeses upside down for further inspection lol!!!
Thanks
Sam
