My sister in Canada used to knit gloves for me in Sanquhar pattern. I still have them, though haven't worn them in years. When I was moving house recently I found photocopes of the pattern instructions, but can't remember whether I kept them or threw them out. I've held onto them for years but never found anyone who was interested in them.

The patterns are on the internet; I was just wondering whether the same technique is used as with Fair Isle?

Ina, was talking to my sister in Canada today and remembered to ask her about Sanquhar knitting. She said she did much the same as in Fair Isle patterns, ie you just keep the different wools behind pattern, you don't cut them. I'm not describing this very well so hope you know what I mean. She said her son had downloaded patterns from the website but despite years of knitting Sanquhar garments she couldn't follow the knitting instructions given.

Thanks for that! I have a bit of a problem with Fair Isle - too many bits to control in two hands - but maybe, if and when I have more time again, I could give it another try! At least with this there's not that many colours.

My sister said she had tried different colour schemes to the normal black and white and brown and beige, ie cranberry and pink and navy blue and light blue.
