Replaced the Defender's handbrake cableI've replaced a few handbrake cables in my time, so when the one on the Land Rover broke I thought it would be "nae bother". Wrong!
The old cable was firmly corroded into place and took three hours to remove. Mutter, mutter (many, many times).
On the positive side, the new one went in very sweetly and took only 20 minutes to fit and adjust. And it worked properly first time, without further adjustment.
Very satisfying. Finally!

Looks a difficult job even without all the rust and broken pin(s)!

It's not particularly difficult, just a faff and a fiddle with the confined spaces. What made it a real stinker of chore this time was all the corrosion, crud and, as you say, that dratted pin.
And the weather stayed dry. I work on the car outside so cold, wind and rain tend to make the working environment rather grim.
