ReBOOT - computer recycing project

http://www.reboot-forres.co.uk/

ReBOOT, the first computer recycling project in the North of Scotland, was set up by Moray Voluntary Service Organisation (MVSO), in Forres, Moray, Scotland. The project has now become an independent company with charitable status and aims to reduce waste by finding a new use for obsolete but serviceable IT Equipment and by recycling components from non working equipment

That's a great site i'll give them a ring cos i have tons of computer stuff about the place and software too saves me the hassel of trying to sell it.
And they'll come and pick it up too.

Oh no... that's a shame.

I guess that the costs need to be covered somehow but surely the fact that you are giving away things with a value then that shouldn't be a cost borne by you.

It looks like they charge £5 for collection on top of the cost of each item too - which could amount to quite a hefty sum if you've got a few bits and bobs going.

Do they charge even if you take things in to them??

We had the same problem with our RAF club. We had a load of working computers and monitors we wanted to donate to them for re-use, but it was going to cost us about £100 to donate them!
Shame really, as we couldn't afford that, that's the reason a lot of things get dumped nowadays. Thankfully the recycling centres take these things for free.

Don't forget the Neeps! Emporium and Freecycle - stuff like that would have been snapped up in moments!

There are also charities shops which take the old working computers. For example Shelters does it for sure.

The reason for the last disposal was because we were running out of space and needed to move some of it fairly quick and were happy to transport it ourselves, and were quite happy to donate it so it could be resold, but I'm afraid I draw the line at paying people to take away good stuff so they can make even more money on it. Is it still seen as recycling or business profiteering??
