Profile visibility to non-membersHi,
I just noticed when looking at the forum, but not logged it, that some member's profiles are still accessible, and some aren't. I was looking at the main screen, which shows all the forums, and looking at the "last post" column.
Is this a user setting somewhere? I was a bit surprised that anything like that is accessible without logging in.

I've just had a look - when I log out I can see two user names in blue... the rest in black. I've no idea why this is the case.
The memberlist is not available to anyone other than a registered user, and there are some forums that can't be read until you've registered and signed in. We can't close ALL the forums because otherwise people won't know whether they want to join or not.
That said, it's very easy for someone to register - yes they have to be approved by site admin but anyone can hide anything behind an email address. My advice is not to put any personal info in your profile.
It's still odd though - I can't quite work out why there should be any in blue - the same names appear in black on the different forums. For me it was The North Eats and Animals that had the blue names.

Did another couple of checks, for interest. All profiles are available without logging in. Read a thread without logging in, then click on the "profile" tab under any of the posts.

It doesn't really worry me in that I don't have anything particularly personal in my profile. But it is something that needs to be looked at for the protection of other members. Thanks for pointing it out.
