Forget-me-Not

Pottery ClassesHi,
I've just returned from my first pottery class this morning. I LOVE IT
I've wanted to do this since I was seventeen when last did some. (38 in Spring). I was always too far from classes or Hubby on call (for years).etc etc. I've been on the waiting list since Septeber, I go to ones at the Garioch Commnity centre in Inverurie. They cater from beginers to advanced and the people are lovely. I mentioned Neeps when talking to tutor at the end, about arty stuff in area. She was very interested. I didn't mention Neeps wanting to do Pottery just yet, as my boundless enthusiasm needed to be kept under some sort of control.
Anyway, I have a first work of art labelled and wrapped waiting for me to continue next Monday and I'm really chuffed can bring tuff home to work on too. I have loads of ideas scrap booked and noted, (This was from before I went to class!!!) I may just stay there until I retire.... several have been attending for ages, one has for years.
Back down to earth with a sandwich and a dog walk now.

Pottery ClassesI agree, very relaxing..... made me think about how often I'm that relaxed or just... semi-relaxed. I'm sure if more people had hobbies the world would be a nicer place.

Hey FMN - just remembered while thanking you for a shot at your pottery wheel - we haven't had an update of your marvellous potty stuff?
I spotted some pics on your blog - how about posting your potty successes here? You're now well into the course, have a kiln, and a wheel.....hooray for cosmic ordering. Hooray for my ordering too - think we have a resident potter - skill sharing soon???

(First time implanted quoty thing, not sure will come out right.) Not so much to update other than the tiles I did earlier this week, which are on the Blog. Will try to attach pics. Since have been away, done less in last fortnight and now class finished until after Easter. I have a butter dish on order from Maria, a vase from my Mother and a tobacco jar for my Dad. Jar first on list to be done, so can get glazed and fred before OH and eldest's trip booked mid may.
Moved loads of rubbish from garden last night, some recycled and donated at last minute, cleared some space for seating to be moved about. Now need to stock up on hay and get guinea pigs out hopefully tomorrow, which makes space for garage sort, so wheel and kiln and get into place. Kiln no closer to being wired in yet. easter hols maybe. Wheel works. Need to do some serious practise.
Am up for a pottery do but can I schedule it in May onwards, just to get things in place and room to stand. Can do cylinder vases, coilwork and a taster on wheel but not building myself yet, missed a slab work lesson due to trip. Can get that in first and a wheel lesson, practical not watching.

Would that be OK? Just a little more time. V eventfulre family stuff here and extended family. Plus family visitors during easter hols. Not sure how much pottery time I'll get then. Will do a lot of notice plan, so we can get clay too.

PotteryThanks ZC and thanks WG for the www, have updated.
I'm really enjoying the tiles but need to get some wooden batons made in pairs with different mm widths for equal support for roling out. Right now focusing on detail rather than exact proportions. I want to learn more about glazing, so that I can paint them in the way I want them to be, quite detailed with a sheen on the tile.
I've a snowdrop one too. Will attach, now I've found out how.

PotteryThe vase was my first thing. It was built by creating a column but then I wanted t do a thistle thing, so leaves added to bottom and the prickly bit scratched out. I know how I'd improve it already but I note down what I learn in my folder full of inspiration and ideas. I want to make some goblets like that later.

Thank you thank you. You're an inspiration. You said you wanted to 'do' pottery and you really have! I love all of your work
Wasn't pushing you to host a potty meet....honest! Just sorta gently nudging you into sharing your newly aquired (and fantastic) skills. Any time - be it now or next year will be more than fine. I know you have a lot on right now and although I've said it before (over cosy cuppa's) I need to repeat it here - I really admire how much you squeeze into your days. Feel the need for Beth time management coaching coming on.

Time management coaching! I could do with some of that Maria!
Still got the big wheel here too - would really like to 'kick' it into action. Perhaps you (Beth) and Maria could come over here sometime to discuss.
