porridge oats to treat dry skin conditionsi used to suffer from the odd spot of exema ( espectially when i swam alot).
My mum n dad showed me a David Bellamy show in which he wrapped a cup of porridge oats in a muslim square and soaked in the bath. The white milky stuff that came out and made a lovely moisturising bath milk. This teamedup with some aromatherapy oils and you have a luxurious treatment that costs little and isnt too toxic for the water system. rub the sack of muslim on the dryest areas for a concentrated moisturise.
another thing feed the left over oaty smush to the hens? if its not soapy of course.

My nephew has always suffered from really bad eczema (sp?) and my sister used to put a bag of oats under the tap when running him a bath. He is now nearly 17 and his skin is much better, at least now when he bends his fingers they don't split

yup my spelling is poor. :L im too lazy/rushed to spell check so i bet there will be more where that came from i hope its not too annoying.:L
good to hear it worked for your nephew however, cos its a downright uncomfortable condition. i was a mild/temporarry sufferer but it hounds people. My god daughter had it on her feet from day 1 and just like with your nephews hands her socks were regularly blood stained, poor wee thing.

I've always used oatmeal - but I don't see why the flaked stuff won't work. Give it a try.
Have to say that I'm not bothered about the spelling... but I do think that a muslim might be a bit bemused if you try to rub his/her sack LOL
Sorry... I really am sorry... I never pick people up for spelling cos it isn't that important when on a forum... but this really did make me chuckle

Thanks for this,. My daughter suffers from "Xmas" too (just kidding) I will pass this on to her.
I recall being able to buy an oatmeal body scrub somewhere. Late wife used to use it.
PS I suffer from Xmas too! but not the condition being discussed.

I don't see why any oats shouldn't work. If they were whole you could crack them with a rolling pin first to release the starchy stuff but ready milled would probably work out cheaper anyway.
I didn't spot the Muslim mistake
Don't worry Niks, if they put a Fatwa on you, we will hide you
