poll for november craft night

Poll to decide where to hold the November craft meeting.
It will be in the middle of the month, date to be agreed by majority......hopefully
andybebbington

i am coming/ hosting dont mind were iam easy and will go with the flow of the majority
Sassinak

Oh dear we are all going to sit on the fence Julie lol It will have to be your decision lol
Julie

Well I don't mind either way, I just thought it would be best to let folks decide how far they wanted to travel. If those that wanted to do card making are mostly over your way, yours would attract more votes and vice versa. Looks as if it is a fairly even split doesn't it?
We have plenty of room here but even so, my kitchen would fit into Sassinaks twice. Maybe weight of numbers could be the decider.......would anyone intending to come announce it if we decide a day?
Those that have further to go might be able to car share?
Julie

Just to be helpful, the 14th November is a Saturday. I think a Saturday afternoon with a  break for tea would be nice and give lots of time, but I'm just as content with a weekday night if it suits more people.
Smooth Hound

just a thought, the poll looks like its near enough 50/50, so maybe who ever doesnt do it nov, does it in december ,
Julie

Too near Christmas, everyone will be too busy I expect. I won't want to do it then for several reasons; risk of snow, busy time etc.
Smooth Hound

blimey now its 50 50
Dale

like to go to Julie`s please, selfish reasons, its not too far away for me
Julie

We can car share if it comes to it Dale...as per.
Sassinak

Right we have discussed it and the first card meet will be at my house.
Either Saturday 7th, Sat 14th or Friday 6th or Friday 13th (Oh might be a bad day for some, but usually a lucky one for me !!)

I'd probably better do a poll - later
Smooth Hound

great, i was sort of hoping that someone hadnt voted yet, do you want to do a poll for the dates
Sassinak

I'll put one up now - it will have to be yet another thread I'm afraid :-(
Julie

ok, here's what i'm doing....
I'm going to run a monthly sewing course. It will be a little different to the craft meets and the numbers will be limited as I'm planning a proper tutorial from beginners to intermediate level initially. I'll need a full month to plan the course and to fix my third sewmo if it can be done.
Because several people have been asking already, I want to give them first refusal and the extra places will be available after that. Anyone who doesn't get the first time around will get priority the second time. By that time, the beginners will be together at a new level with a bit of luck......or even helping with the next group
This is all part of a fiendish plan to start a neeps sweat shop....   hehehehe, Gordon will be making shackles
Suggestion for the first date will be Afternoon, Saturday 21st November and, hopefully, every third Saturday in the month after that, unless it proves a completely impossible date for everyone in which case, it will need to be altered.
Need to add;
Any blokes who have a sewing machine and want to learn to sew should consider doing this too, it's not just for girls.
Smooth Hound

sounds like a really good idea

I would LOVE to come sewing at Julies! 3rd Saturdays are good for me, though may miss occasional one if D's doing gun dog thing.

Sounds wonderful. Vey happy

If too many people want to take this up, I might do two just to get everyone started...........depending on how tiring the first one is.
Better to have two small groups where everyone gets a look in, than too large a group. It would give people the opportunity to switch days with each other sometimes too.

I'd like to come too (if there's any space). I have a very old electric machine that's I've never used as I'm not sure about the wiring.

It's a long way, but maybe I could pick someone up en-route to help with costs?
Maria

I'll be there
wildgarlic

I'd like to come too - anyone give me a lift? hehehe

Have got a couple of sewing machines too but they are in scotland and I've not managed to get them down here yet. Not enough room in the car Maybe next time. I've got a particularly lovely treadle machine that I really want to get down here but can't until I move cos there isn't room at mum's for it.
Julie

I have three machines, two working fine, one needs sorting but I'm pretty sure it just needs a grub screw replacing.
It mysteriously appeared one day when I was sewing and I saved it in a safe place until I knew what it was. When the timing finally slipped I stripped down the machine and found where the screw had come from but couldn't remember where I had put the screw.....typical eh.
It turned up a few months ago so I can hopefully sort the problem.
Between us all, we will manage, I'm sure. If we have too many machines, there won't be anywhere left to work anyway.
Sounds as if we have a small class already
