Plant of the week....sunday 18th novemberThe Walnut
According to legend, when gods walked upon the earth, they lived on walnuts; hence the name Juglans or Jovis glans, Jupiter's nut.
The tree has been cultivated in europe since Roman times for its nuts; these yield an important oil containing essential fatty acids, such as a-linolenic, which are vital for healthy cell function and prostaglandin development.
The white walnut, or butternut (J.cinerea), from eastern North America is a useful laxative.
LEAVES
In Europe, walnut leaves are a popular home remedy for both eczema and blepharitis (eyelid inflammation) in children.
Recent research suggests antifungal properties, as well as an antiseptic action; the leaves are also used for intestinal worms and as a digestive tonic.
use as tea for skin problems and eye inflammations, and as a digestive tonic for poor appetite.
As a wash for eczema or for wounds and grazes.
As an eyebath for conjunctivitis and blepharitis.
INNER BARK
The quills or inner bak are one of the few potent laxatives that are safe to use in pregnancy.
also use for constipation, sluggish digestion, as a liver stimulant and for skin diseases.
NUT & CASING
The fleshy green outer casing of the nut is rich in fruit acids and minerals.
Traditionally, infusions of this rind were used to darken the hair. The oil extracted from the nut contains essential fatty acids vital for many body processes.
Outer nut rind
As tea for chronic diarrhoea or as tonic for anaemia.
As a hair rinse for hair loss.
Nut
as oil for dietary supplement for menstrual dysfunction or for dry flaky eczema.
"the oyle of walnuts....maketh smooth the hands and face, and taketh away.....black and blew marks that come of bruses."

It doesn't actually say in that - but even non-gods and goddesses can eat them...
Congratulations on getting it posted.

LOL - I'm a firm believer that things will happen when they are supposed to happen.... although you can have some fun with some of the supposed ways to hurry things along...!! Hot curry, raw pineapple and hot - well we don't need to go into that on the family forum do we - have you tried raspberry leaf tea btw? That was very in vogue when I was expecting J. Quite nice to drink too.
Yup - the breastfeeding will help you get your figure back in a very quick time... and you're pretty well toned so that will help too.

get you hubby to get the tea as some shop wont let you buy the stuff if they don't think your ready.
My sister was 2 day over due and went in to a shop and they woundn't sell her the tea as she said she should be in hospital lol.
Later that day her hubby went in and got it lol.

How on earth can a shop know when you are 'ready' or not?? Seems a bit daft that. You can drink the tea throughout pregnancy anyway (from memory - so please check it out before trying it!)
